Fans Launch Petition to Get Danny DeVito to Voice Detective Pikachu

Disclosure: I signed it.

As of the time of this writing, more than 11,500 fans, including yours truly, have signed a Change.org petition in order to get Nintendo to hire Danny DeVito as the voice of Detective Pikachu.

Very plainly, the petition reads “There are a number of us that feel as though Danny DeVito would be a prime fit for the voice acting role of the Detective Pikachu. We want to make this happen.”

The top comment on the petition reads:

“His voice: iconic.
His range as an actor: wide.
His wit: sharp.
His career: successful.
His comedic timing: perfect.
His celebrity status: beloved.

Now is the time to make Detective Pikachu truly electric.

I choose you, DeVitochu!”

Great Detective Pikachu was announced earlier this week for the 3DS with a live action CGI trailer, and is geared for release in Japan on February 3. There’s not yet any word on a Western release.
