Far Cry 3 Trailer Arrives a Day Early

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

Tomorrow’s Far Cry 3 trailer is here today!

We got a little heads-up about Far Cry 3 yesterday, along with a crappy 16-second teaser and a promise of a proper trailer in a couple of days. And one day later, a couple of days later is here, and so is the full-length video!

Most of the video is just a setup for the game: the discovery of an uncharted yet inhabited tropical island paradise, a wee little hint of potential trouble that goes completely ignored, wild good times, then a heapin’ helpin’ of that foreshadowed trouble, and then DUBSTEP AND VIOLENCE, baby, because that’s what the kids are into these days. Plenty of f-bombs, too.

It all looks decently Far Cry to me, particularly the dock in the opening bit, which could easily be where Jack Carver came ashore after his boat blew up in in the original game. Aside from that it’s not terribly informative, but we should all be fairly familiar with the Far Cry formula by now anyway. What I’d really like to know is whether Ubisoft is going to cripple this game with its ridiculous, always-on DRM, because I suspect that, and not this cinematic sell job, is what will really drive buying decisions.

Far Cry 3 is scheduled to come out on September 7 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and, at least until the inevitable delay is announced, PC. And for the record, I don’t mind dubstep at all.
