Eight intrepid gamers recently went head to head in a F.E.A.R. 2 competition with a twist: Playing the game while their hands were covered with bugs, rats, snakes and other disgusting creepy-crawlies.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is a pretty spooky game in its own right, but what better way to turn up the tension than by having a critter-filled contest in a gloomy “haunted mansion” in London? Eight players brave enough to take part squared off two at a time with the Xbox 360 version of the game, but to make things interesting they had to play with their hands inside a closed box. Once the game began, players found their hands accosted by rats, lobsters, bugs, worms, snakes and other shudder-inducing grotesqueries.
But that’s not all. When it was all over, the “winner” had to make his way through the dark, dirty basement of the mansion, where he came face to face with mysteriously moving objects and even a real-life Alma. The prize for putting up with all this? A new Xbox 360 and a 42″ television. The rest of us have to settle for watching grown men squeal like schoolgirls.
Aside from the horror of having to play an FPS with a controller, I’m pretty sure I’d be able to handle things right up to the arrival of the lobster. I have a thing about crustaceans. Think you could do better?
