Frostpunk and This War of Mine developer 11 Bit Studios is teasing its next project, and it looks ominous as hell. A cryptic teaser trailer for the Polish studio’s next game made its way online today, opening with a quote that reads, “He who rejects change is the architect of decay.” Then we’re shown a bloody sledgehammer resting in the snow as the camera pans up to reveal a tipped oil can and an individual who looks like they may not be having the best day.

Another hint can be found in the description of the teaser video:

The wasteland covered by snow’s quilt seems quiet, calm, asleep as if the wind was its lullaby.

Yet, the crimson scars mark the battleground for precious resources worth breaking up alliances over.

So, is it Frostpunk 2, a spinoff, or something else entirely? 11 Bit is staying mum for now, but the studio at least promises to share more during a global reveal event on Aug. 12, 2021. Until then, you can watch the teaser for yourself below.

Developer 11 Bit released Frostpunk, a steampunk city-builder survival game set in a frigid wasteland, in 2018. Console ports arrived the following year as the studio continued work on DLC for the game, and mobile versions are still planned to launch sometime soon.
