So, what’s interesting? It’s great to see Dishonored up for Best of Show and Best Original Game, although I don’t really get why it’s not up for Best PC Game as well; those that are are PC exclusives, but most of the titles up for Best Console game are cross-platform, with PC versions as well. Not that it really matters, I suppose, and it’s nice to see games like XCom: Enemy Unknown and Hawken getting some (hopefully) well-deserved attention. That’s not to suggest that games like Assassin’s Creed and Halo don’t deserve their nominations too, but the presence of hugely popular triple-A franchises on a “Best of E3” list is hardly unexpected.

It’s also interesting to note that the PlayStation 3 is the most-nominated platform in 2012, surpassing the Xbox 360 for the first time in this console generation, and to see an iOS game up for consideration in the Best Handheld/Mobile category. The times, they are a-changin’.

The Best of E3 2012 winners will be announced on June 26. To find out more about the nominees and the judges, among whom is our very own El Comandante Steve Butts, go to gamecriticsawards.com.
