George Lucas in No Rush to Watch The Force Awakens Trailer

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Lucas has yet to experience his 88 seconds of bliss.

The Force Awakens trailer has been viewed more times than we can count, all sources included, but one man who’s yet to watch the 88-second teaser? George Lucas.

The mildly surprising revelation came when Page Six asked Lucas for his thoughts on the trailer during the Bloomberg Businessweek 85th anniversary celebration. “I don’t know anything about it,” said the man, the myth, the legend. “I haven’t seen it yet.”

His explanation? “I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there. I plan to see it when it’s released.”

And that makes plenty of sense, sure — we’ve all done some sort of “media blackout” ahead of a movie, TV show, or other project before. But what tickles me about the news is that Lucas is a creative consultant on The Force Awakens. You would think that kind of involvement would preclude Lucas from skipping out.

Given that Lucas did nothing but live and breathe the Skywalker universe for nearly 40 years, I think he’s…due for a breather. Hopefully his thoughts on the full movie are a bit more fleshed out come next December.

I wonder if he’s seen his own take on the teaser trailer…
