Ubisoft announces Ghost Recon Online’s release window for Steam Early Access, as well as how many registered users the shooter currently has.
In a press release sent earlier today, Ubisoft has announced that its free-to-play shooter Ghost Recon Online, is coming to Steam Early Access today in Canada, and will be available worldwide this spring. In addition to that, the publisher has revealed that since Ghost Recon Online’s launch in August of 2012, the tactical third-person shooter now has four million registered users, which could see a significant uptick once it sees a global release on Steam.
Corey Facteau, producer at Ubisoft mentions, “Bringing Ghost Recon Online to Steam has been our goal since the game’s inception,” and adds, “We took the time necessary to reach a quality level that can go head to head with the best online games available today before releasing on Steam.” Facteau also mentions that over 50% of the shooter’s user base are MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) fans.
Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, Ghost Recon Online is a tactical third-person team-based shooter that has cap of 16 players per match. Users can choose between three classes each with their own class-specific equipment such as the Assault, Specialist and Recon.
For those still playing the game, how does it compare to other F2P shooters like Warframe or PlanetSide 2?
