Flagship Studios and Electronic Arts have announced that Hellgate: London has gone gold, with a single-player demo expected to be released on Friday.

The demo will allow players to choose from two of the game’s six character classes: The Blademaster, who excels at melee combat, or the Marksman, a ranged specialist. A handful of storyline and side quests will be available as the player fights his way through hordes of demos surrounding Holborn Station in London.

“This has been an amazing journey for us and we couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished,” said Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios. “We’re anxious to get Hellgate: London into gamers’ hands and we can’t wait to play right along with them.”

Hellgate: London is an action-RPG that makes use of dynamically-generated levels, items, creatures and events to enhance replayability, and also offers a strong online multiplayer component allowing players to fight the demonic forces of evil in groups. Unlike similar games, Hellgate: London multiplayer will behave more like an MMOG and make extensive use of instanced encounters. Although basic multiplayer access will be free, Flagship Studios will also be offering a monthly fee-based tier which will give users ongoing content updates including new monsters, items, dungeons and more.

Hellgate: London is being released for the PC on October 31.
