The developer’s portion of the Serious Sam Humble Weekly Sale will go support the development of Serious Sam 4.
For those who haven’t already done so, there will be few opportunities to hop aboard the Serious Sam train better than this one. The current Humble Weekly Sale puts together Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam 2, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, Serious Sam: Double D, Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack and the Serious Sam Public Test 2 prototype in a pay-what-you-want bundle – and if what you want to pay is more than four bucks and change, you’ll also get the latest addition to the pack, the Serious Sam 3: BFE Deluxe Edition, which includes the “classic” versions of the First and Second Encounters and the game’s soundtrack, which is actually pretty rockin’ in its own right.
Several weeks’ worth of nutso destruction for a fiver is a serious deal (yes, I said it) but what makes it potentially even more compelling for fans of the franchise is that Croteam’s portion of the funds raised will be used to support development of Serious Sam 4. Why these guys can’t scrape together the cash to make the game on their own after more than a decade of releasing games in the series is a mystery, but I like to think that it’s related to an old Croatian tradition that requires them to blow their profits on women and ale. And of course if you don’t want your money going to debauched game developers, you can always direct it toward charity – the EFF and Child’s Play – or into the pockets of the Humble guys.
The Serious Sam Humble Weekly Sale runs until June 13. And yes, the video is recycled – but it’s still funny.
