Hytale Mithril Ingots: How to get them, and what you can use them for

Currently, mining for Mithril in Hytale is considered late-game. This is the best ore you can currently obtain, and it is used to make top-tier armor, weapons, and tools. However, the process of obtaining it is no easy feat. You will need a full outfit of Adamantite gear, plenty of potions, and a resolve of steel.

Thankfully, players don’t need to travel to any new locations to access Mithril in Hytale. This ore is located in a familiar place, but not one that can be considered friendly. In fact, you will be diving down into the most dangerous caves currently available in the game. To do this, you’ll need to be prepared and ready to fight.

The Escapist recaps

  • Mithril is the best ore you can currently obtain in Hytale.
  • You will need an Adamantite pickaxe to mine Mithril.

To mine for Mithril ore in Hytale, you will need to return to the Devastated Lands. Unlike Adamantite, which appears at the surface and can be spotted while wandering the vast, hostile wastes, Mithril is found underground in the caves and dangerous dungeon systems. It can appear on the surface, but this is very rare and isn’t a reliable way to obtain enough for upgrades.

Additionally, mining for Mithril is better than attempting to obtain it as a drop from mobs or as a reward from dungeon chests. The time spent trying to farm it from drops or loot would be more efficiently spent mining, even if the cave systems can be dangerous. Mithril is such a rare reward that it is easier to find when hunting through the stone walls underground.

Mithril can only be obtained by mining with an Adamantite pickaxe or better. Like in the Cobalt and Adamantite mining breakdowns, we recommend setting a teleporter at a good mining point for easy access to your base. We also recommend upgrading armor before weapons and tools. This will ensure you can survive any attacks.

Be careful when returning to your base through the teleporter, as there is currently a bug where attack mobs can come with you through the teleportation if they have tried to engage you in a fight. This can accidentally drop a powerful, hostile monster in your front room.

Once you have harvested your Mithril ore in Hytale, head back to your furnace and throw it in with some fuel to obtain Mithril ingots. These will be needed for all your rare armor crafting.

Before you can begin crafting with Mithril in Hytale, your workbenches will need to be improved to Level 3. We recommend doing this before you head out to start mining for it. If you have achieved Adamantite ore, you should have already completed this step to craft the Adamantite tools and weapons. With your workbenches all ready, you can then jump in and craft the following items:

  • Mithril Helm – 12 Mithril Ingots, 4 Storm Leather, 40 Essence of the Void
  • Mithril Cuirass – 24 Mithril Ingots, 8 Storm Leather. 80 Essence of the Void
  • Mithril Gauntlets – 8 Mithril Ingots, 2 Storm Leather, 20 Essence of the Void
  • Mithril Greaves – 18 Mithril Ingots, 6 Storm Leather, 60 Essence of the Void
  • Mithril Shield – 4 Mithril Ingots, 3 Storm Leather, Stormsilk Scraps
  • Mithril Sword – 6 Mithril Ingots, 3 Storm Leather, 1 Voidheart
  • Mithril Mace – 10 Mithril Ingots, 4 Storm Leather, 1 Voidheart
  • Mithril Battleaxe – 10 Mithril Ingots, 4 Storm Leather, 1 Voidheart
  • Mithril Daggers – 10 Mithril Ingots, 3 Storm Leather, 1 Voidheart
  • Mithril Shortbow – 6 Mithril Ingots, 2 Storm Leather, 1 Voidheart
  • Mithril Hatchet – 9 Mithril Ingots, 4 Storm Leather
  • Mithril Pickaxe – 9 Mithril, 4 Storm Leather

Crafting with Mithril in Hytale is more complex than other ore types. Players will need Voidhearts, Essence of the Void, Storm Leather, and Stormsilk Scraps to craft every Mithril gear item. Some of these, like Essence of the Void, you will have been collecting since the start of the game. Others, like Storm Leather, will take additional grinding against enemies in the later biomes in order to have enough on hand.

Once you have made your Mithril gear in Hytale, you will have the best weapons, tools, and armor currently available. This will make dungeon crawls less stressful, and battles against large bosses like Dragons doable with less risk. You’ll still want to keep your potions handy and carry plenty of cooked food for buffs, but this is the time to take risks, go exploring, and see what strange and interesting things are tucked away in the vast world of Hytale.
