Game giant Infogrames plans the removal and reorganization of Atari’s board of directors.

CNN reports that videogames conglomerate Infogrames Entertainment has chosen to eject most of the board members from its loss-making Atari Inc. unit and have a new “Chief Restructuring Officer” selected as part of the recovery plan for Atari that it launched last month. Five Atari board members will leave, three will stay and new members will be nominated to replace the ejected directors.

Infogrames Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Leleu stated that “the appointment of a new board for Atari … will allow the group to get closer to achieving the key objectives of this plan.” Infogrames’ goals include improving its finances, reviving its publishing division, increasing distribution and leveraging the Atari brand.
