Insurgency: Sandstorm finally has a console release date, even if it is coming a little later than some expected. New World Interactive and publisher Focus Home Interactive originally revealed plans to bring the tactical shooting experience to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in spring 2020, but the studio has revealed that Insurgency: Sandstorm will actually come at the tail end of this console generation on August 25. Watch the release date reveal trailer below.

New World Interactive president Keith Warner provided a statement on the console ports: “The console market has been craving a hardcore modern-day tactical shooter for a long time. Expanding our tried and tested PC formula to the console market is a huge step in our company’s evolution, and we are excited to bring our signature style of tactical FPS to the console market for the very first time.”

Focus Home is attending PAX East and says that interested players can try the game out on consoles at its booth this week.

While you wait for Insurgency: Sandstorm to come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, make sure you check out the three-part documentary series Escapist and Gameumentary published on New World Interactive and the history of Insurgency:
