The International Mobile Gaming Awards announced this year’s competition winners at the GSM Association’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The Best Casual Game Award was won by Treasure Arm, produced by Polish developer Tequila Mobile, while Furby Island, by Spain’s LemonQuest, won for Best Licensed IP-Based Game. The ceremony’s Grand Prix award, with a prize of $15,000, was awarded to Metal Gear Solid Mobile, by U.K. studio Ideaworks3D. Metal Gear Solid Mobile also won the new Operator’s Choice award, while the publicly-voted People’s Choice Award, another category new for this year, was given to WRC 3D from Australian developer Firemint. Winners were chosen from a list of 25 nominees by a jury made up of experts from Japan, the U.S. and Europe.

“The fourth IMGA was a big step forward for us,” said IMGA founder and CEO Maarten Noyons. “We’ve had the largest, most widespread and richest participation since 2004, with two new awards to encourage a new level of entry. Moreover, a partnership with the GSM Association gives us a front row seat at the Mobile World Congress.”

“We are delighted with the success of this first event in collaboration with the IMGA and we look forward to continuing this collaboration in order to establish a real focus on mobile games at this key mobile industry event,” added GSM Association Media Communications Director Mark Smith. “Our congratulations go out to all the winners.”
