John Wick Hex Is a Solid Strategy Game with Some Lackluster Visuals – Review in 3 Minutes

Recommended Videos

John Wick Hex is a strategy action game set in the world of the John Wick movie franchise from Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell. The story is set before John retires as an assassin and tasks you with leading him on a gunfire-fueled rampage to rescue Continental Hotel owner Winston and concierge Charon.

The choice to translate the gun-fu fight scenes of the John Wick movies into a strategy game was a good one. Rather than just shooting waves of bad guys, players have to think their way out of deadly situations, which makes success feel earned by skill rather than power like how the title character himself acts. But not enough attention or time was given to making any of it look good, which is particularly disappointing for such a stylish franchise. John Wick Hex is $19.99 on the Epic Games Store with console releases planned for the future.
