New Oddworld Game Coming

After a five year hiatus, the Oddworld series is returning with a new game and a new developer.

The Oddworld franchise is one that’s been noticeably absent from the videogame industry for the past couple of years. This is presumably been because developer Oddworld Inhabitants has been working on a movie called Citizen Siege since Oddworld: Strangers Wrath was released in 2005. However, it turns out that Oddworld Inhabitants joined forces with Just Add Water in 2009 and has been working on a new Oddworld title ever since.

“It’s with a huge amount of pride that we can announce that for the past 12 months we have been working extremely closely with the fantastic people at Oddworld Inhabitants,” said Just Add Water when it broke the news, “from what started off as brief discussions in June 2009, to now working on multiple projects, across multiple platforms.

“Whilst we cannot go into specifics right now, we can tell you that over the coming weeks and months we will be announcing these exciting projects starring all of your favourite Oddworld characters.”

Just Add Water is the developer behind Gravity Crash, the popular shooter for the PS3 and PSP. While Oddworld is a pretty radical departure from the multidirectional shooter genre, Gravity Crash was a great first game from the studio. It also seems safe to assume that Oddworld Inhabitants won’t let a mediocre title for the series come out.
