New Xbox Elite Controller Features Swappable Components – Update

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Want more precision with your gamepad? The Xbox Elite controller is for you.

Update: The elite controller will launch on October 7, and retail for $150. It will be compatible with Windows 7 and 8 in wired mode, and Windows 10 in wireless mode.

Original Story: Alongside all of the inevitable Halo and Gears of War sequels announced at Microsoft’s E3 conference, there was also the debut of a new piece of Xbox hardware: the Xbox Elite wireless controller. Marketed as a fully-customizable gamepad that gamers can tweak and re-calibrate to the same extent as high-end gaming mice and keyboards, the Elite controller also features a bunch of “swappable components”. Don’t like the default Xbox d-pad? Switch it out. Want more sensitive analogue sticks? Swap ’em.

The new controller also features a switch for “hair triggers,” and an array of new buttons (such as the new paddle buttons on the underside of the controller) that are of course all fully customizable and can be mapped in-game in whichever way you please. The controller is compatible with both Xbox One and Windows 10.

No further details, such as how much it will cost, were announced, but we can probably assume it will set you back a bit more than a standard Xbox One controller.
