Rockstar has delayed GTA 6 until November 2026, meaning we’re now more than a year away from its release date again

Rockstar Games has just announced a fresh delay for Grand Theft Auto 6. The title, which was set to launch on May 26, 2026, has been pushed back to November 19, 2026.

Posting on its X (formerly Twitter) account, the developer’s statement says “Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.”

“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

In a follow-up post, the studio said “We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”

The news follows protests by former staff outside Rockstar’s offices today, with the studio being accused of union-busting. The developer claims the staff affected were leaking secrets about its current projects.

As a result of the delay, Take-Two (the game’s publisher) saw its stock price drop $30 per share in after-hours trading.

“Rockstar Games will now release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, and we remain both excited and confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience,” a statement explains.

Rumors had been circulating that a delay would be announced.

How do you feel about the GTA 6 delay? We’d wager a few publishers will be sweating come November 2026 if they were planning to launch in a similar timeframe.
