Othercide is a rogue-lite turn-based tactics game from Lightbulb Crew where you lead the offspring of a legendary warrior known as Mother into a battle to save all of reality.

The grim story focuses on ā€œThe Child,ā€ who through ceaseless experimentation has become the vengeful embodiment of suffering itself. With Motherā€™s regretful failure to save the Child and subsequent death at his hands, itā€™s up to her doll-like daughters born from fragments of her lingering soul to fight back. The Gothic premise is backed up by tons of lore that dives into the histories of the Mother, the Child, and all the enemies involved. Itā€™s well written and motivated me to unlock more through the gameplay.

Overall, Othercide is an exemplary tactics game. Its high difficulty may be a roadblock for some, but it can be surmounted with patience and study. Itā€™s full of style and has rewarding gameplay that grows deeper the more time you spend with it and do expect to give it a lot of your time. The game is out now for $34.99 on PC and $39.99 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and it will release later this summer on Nintendo Switch.
