Overkill’s The Walking Dead will arrive in the second half of 2017.
Overkill, the folks behind the intially-awesome recently-controversial Payday 2 announced that they would be making an FPS based on The Walking Dead all the way back in 2014. At the time, we got a pretty sweet reveal trailer (which you can see to the right) but since then we haven’t really heard anything about it. And it looks like we’ll continue to not hear much about it for a while, as Overkill has today announced that the game has been delayed into late 2017.
Buried within an announcement of the studio’s partnership with South Korean developer Smilegate, was the following nugget:
“Overkills’s The Walking Dead will be expanded with more content where an Asian version will be developed for simultaneous launch with the western version. To maximize the new opportunities, Starbreeze, 505 Games and Skybound have decided to release the game in all markets during the second half of 2017.”
A shame for anyone who was really looking forward to the game (especially following the disappointment of the last Walking Dead game). Here’s hoping the extra time will help make it the super polished co-op Walking Dead shooter we deserve.
