Get those stockings, pearls and high heels ready; you’ve got a date with some musical theater.
Later this month, selected songs from the cult musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be available to download for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. From October 26th, players will be able to grab the songs Time Warp, Sweet Transvestite, and Hot Patootie for $1.99 each, or $5.49 for the set.
For those not familiar with the movie, it tells the story of a newly engaged couple, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, who find themselves in the house of the mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter after their car breaks down in the middle of the night. Much like Dr. Frankenstein, Frank-N-Furter has discovered how to create life, but rather thana hideous monster, stitched together from corpses, he’s built a blond-haired, muscle-bound plaything called Rocky. But Brad and Janet’s arrival causes all of his plans to go awry, with disastrous consequences for pretty much everyone involved.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is thought to be the longest running movie of all time, having been shown almost constantly in various places around the world since its release in 1975, and is the very first big screen appearance of Tim Curry, who has lent his voice to a number of videogames, including Brütal Legend and Dragon Age: Origins.
Songs about transvestites and rock and roll aren’t the only things going on in the world of Guitar Hero either. During the week starting on October 19th, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to download a free song pack featuring songs from Muse, Disturbed and My Chemical Romance. Once the week is up, the pack will go on general sale for $5.49. The following week, at the same time the Rocky Horror songs become available, Soundgarden’s compilation album Telephantasm will be broken down into individual songs costing two bucks each.
