Space Force Blasts Off with Steve Carell in Official Trailer for Netflix

Get ready to hear Steve Carell talk in his gravelly voice a lot as the second trailer for Netflix’s upcoming comedy Space Force features a bunch of it. The show follows Carell’s character, four-star general Mark R. Naird, as he takes over the fledgling Space Force (still an actual thing), and it comes from Carell and The Office creator Greg Daniels. Netflix is describing it as a new kind of workplace comedy.

It does appear that the show will diverge from our general expectations of workplace comedy, as there don’t seem to be any mockumentary aspects at all. None of the cast, which includes John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, and Lisa Kudrow, is seen sitting down for interviews or looking knowingly at the camera with a smug grin in the trailer. Still, the comedy seems to be a strong mix of slapstick and awkward situations, which is in line with The Office.

Netflix is also releasing a podcast about the show called Inside Joke: Space Force, which will feature the stars and creators of the show. The podcast will air Monday and Thursday of each week and run for 10 episodes.

Space Force and Inside Joke: Space Force will premiere on May 29.
