Splinter Cell: Blacklist‘s Wii U Exclusive Features In Video

Ubisoft shows how Splinter Cell: Blacklist will take advantage of the Wii U’s unique gamepad.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the latest in Sam Fisher’s green-lighted spy escapades, is releasing on multiple platforms, including the Wii U. Ubisoft have just released an eight minute trailer highlighting “the Wii U gamepad advantage,” and how the game will offer up some exclusive features for its Wii U version.

Splinter Cell Community Developer Zack Cooper walks us through a typical mission on the Wii U, explaining the things you can do on Nintendo’s console that you won’t be able to do on other platforms. First up, several gadgets which you can choose to equip in the loadout screen have “exclusive Wii U gamepad integration.” During normal play, your gamepad’s screen will function as Fisher’s inventory, and all you need to do is tap on an item to equip it.

Fisher’s “snake cam” and “colorized googles” also uses the gamepad’s screen to show you what Sam can see. You can even zoom in by pinching the screen, and mark enemies by tapping on them.

But the coolest uses of the gamepad revolve around Fisher’s equipable gadgets. The video shows us the tri-rotor, a remote control helicopter that is, appropriately, controlled entirely with the gamepad’s gyroscope controls. The sticky-cam, one of the “classic Splinter Cell” gadgets, is also controlled entirely with the gamepad.

YouTube commenters are also quick to point out that the Wii U version has considerably less screen-tearing than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

So there you have it. Is this enough to convince you to get the game on Wii U? If you don’t have a Wii U, is it enough to convince you to buy one?
