Stormfront Studios Not Necessarily Dead Yet

Despite widespread reports of its demise, Stormfront Studios founder Don Daglow has said the studio isn’t quite dead yet.

Reports came out yesterday that Stormfront would be shutting its doors after two decades of operation, the victim of a worsening economic climate and business downturns. A company representative confirmed the closure, saying, “The project (in development) made no revenue.”

But speaking in an interview with GameCyte, company CEO Daglow said ongoing discussions about original Stormfront IPs have continued, and new discussions have also begun, “so we are exploring the possibility that maybe people will be able to be called back.”

“I think the best way to put it is to say that we’ve suspended operations,” he continued. “We’ve sent virtually everybody home. The discussions that are going on – we were very close to having some things signed, and sometimes it just works out that way. You get to a point where you’re in a position where you’re not going to be able to pay people, and you do not want to have them working under that situation.”

Daglow admitted that one of the challenges to a possible comeback is the difficulty of recalling staff. “I think whenever any company suspends operations like this, every single day that passes, you’re going to have fewer people you can get back. The better your team, the faster that effect of people not being available to come back will be,” he said, adding it would be “naive” to expect Stormfront employees would not end up scattering fairly quickly.

“We’re simply exploring all avenues and we just have to play out what’s going to happen,” he said. “Over the next few weeks, we’ll see, and then we’ll be able to share with people what’s going on.”
