TAP Interactive, the marketing and promotional division of Themis Group, is hosting A Gamer’s Valentine, the first ever bachelor and bachelorette auction in support of Duke Children’s Hospital.
Running January 31 from 7:30 p.m to 11:00 p.m. at the White Collar Crime club, all proceeds from the event will go to Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Care Center. The auction will feature gamers from development studios and industry-related companies based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park, including Red Storm Entertainment, Themis Group, Vicious Cycle, Destineer Studios and The Escapist Magazine. Winning bidders and their prizes will enjoy exciting nights out provided by the Carolina Hurricanes, Big Boss Brewing Company, Goodnight’s Comedy Club, Adventure Landing, Scooterz Inc., Five Star Restaurant, Parizade, Vin Rouge and many others.
“As the Triangle area grows into a hub for the videogame industry, it’s great to see the local companies join us for a charitable cause,” said Themis Group CEO Alexander Macris. “We are very pleased to have this opportunity to bring the game industry’s support to Duke Children’s and to create awareness for the positive effect games have on children in hospitals and in rehabilitation.”
Along with financial donations, a limited number of new or “gently used” PlayStation 2 consoles and videogames will also be given to the hospital. An event page with information and updates on the auction is available at Facebook by searching A Gamer’s Valentine.
