The Forge is a simple game in theory, yet just like Roblox, it becomes more complex when you’re in the thick of it. One of the gameplay features that can be tricky to understand is ore. Although it’s a diverse resource in The Forge, what ore you use for your armor and weapon recipes greatly impacts their stats.

Common ore is easy to find, but rare ore is much harder to come by and typically has what is known as Ore Traits. If The Forge’s Ore Traits have left you confused, you’re not alone. In this guide, The Escapist will walk you through the different ore types, explain what ore effects are, and how to make the most of these traits to enhance your weaponry.
The Escapist recaps
- Mining and using ore is a main gameplay feature of Roblox’s The Forge.
- Whether you’re crafting armor or weaponry, you need to ensure you have enough resources and the right ore for the job.
- Some of these resources have what’s known as Ore Traits, which are basically unique abilities that further enhance your equipment.
- Certain ore is rarer than others, with that rarity largely dependent on what stage of the game you’re at and the region you’re in.
- The Forge ore guide will provide a handy ore tier list, an explainer about Ore Traits, and detail how to get the most out of this bountiful resource.
The Forge ore tier list
To ensure that The Forge’s ore guide is a useful tool you keep returning to when you require advice, The Escapist has ranked ores from S to D, and has taken into consideration rarity and Ore Traits (if any) to determine categorization.

The Forge ores explained
There are seven different locations in The Forge where you can mine ore, with each island having ore exclusive to that area. For example, you’ll only find Frogite in the Raven Cave region.
Due to The Forge’s expansive nature, more locations may be added at a later date, but for now, the main regions are:
- Stonewake’s Cross
- Forgotten Kingdom
- Goblin Cave
- Frostspire Expanse
- The Peak
- Raven Cave
All of The Forge’s ore has Rarity, Chance, Multiplier, and Price. Rarity and the price of ore are self-explanatory, but what about chance and multipliers?
In The Forge, a multiplier determines how the ore used will impact the base stats of your armor and weapons. To unlock higher multipliers and increase damage/defense, you need to use rarer materials when crafting.
Chance, however, refers to how probable it is that you’ll craft the item you want. Therefore, if you have a 1/1 chance, you’ll forge it every time, but if you have 1/8, it becomes a more unpredictable process.
The Forge’s Ore Traits, as previously mentioned, can greatly improve your weapon and armor. However, every trait is different, and not all effects are beneficial. A prime example of this is Eye Ore; it has -10% health and +15% damage boost. Consequently, you have to determine whether the pros outweigh the cons.
How to get ore in The Forge
At The Escapist, we don’t want to teach you how to suck eggs. Still, in the interest of thoroughness and accessibility, we must briefly explain how to get ore.
No matter which region of the game you’re in, you’ll need a pickaxe. No pickaxe, no mining, no ore. Just like with everything in The Forge, certain pickaxes are better than others; fortunately for you, we have a best weapons and how to make them guide handy.
With your pickaxe in hand, you now need something to strike it with – boulders, pebbles, rocks, any of them will do. In the beginning, you’ll mainly mine only common and uncommon ore, but as you progress, you’ll start accessing the biomes with the rarest ores.
While perseverance is the name of the game when mining in The Forge, a little pick-me-up to help increase your chances of obtaining rare ore never goes amiss. By drinking Luck Potions and upgrading your tools, you’ll be sure to amass a wealth of ore in no time at all. Your increased luck will run out within five minutes, however, and with the potion costing 350 gold, you’ll want to use your stash wisely.

You can download and play The Forge without spending a penny; however, in-game purchases are available for Robux (aka real money converted into in-game currency).
A new biome – Frostpire Expanse – was added in the winter update, so it stands to reason that more locations will eventually be added. However, there’s no official confirmation of if or when this will happen.
