Matthew Vaughn Kingsman cinematic universe release date trailer The King's Man

The King’s Man Gets a New Trailer as It Finally Rolls Towards Release

Matthew Vaughn’s The King’s Man, the prequel to his Kingsman film series, has had a rough time of it in terms of release after being delayed twice. However, the Sept. 18 release date is now coming, and the film is gearing back up for release with a new, extended trailer that features plenty of new content.

The move takes place during the dawn of World War I and shows how the Kingsman secret service was established. Ralph Fiennes plays the founder of the Kingsman organization and Harris Dickinson is his new recruit. They, along with a group of supporting characters, will take on a collection of the world’s worst villains who are hell-bent on using WWI to become rich and take over the world.

There’s a lot of the stylish action that has made the Kingsman series stand out, but The King’s Man does appear to play a little bit straighter than the first two Taron Egerton-starring movies. The plan is to use this as a launching pad to expand the Kingsman universe even more, with another spin-off focusing on the Statesman (the American version of the Kingsman) and a third film in the main series in the works. Whether or not we get to see them will probably depend on the success of this film.

The film also stars Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance. Vaughn co-wrote the screenplay and directs the film.

Barring more COVID-19 delays later in the year, we should finally get our chance to check out The King’s Man in September.
