The Mandalorian Season 2 May Feature Established Series Characters

The Mandalorian has done a great job of refraining from featuring established Star Wars characters, but alas, a new report says that might change in season 2.

Deadline reports that insiders have hinted at “several established characters” from the Skywalker Saga appearing sometime during the show’s second season this fall. The who, when, where, and why have yet to be disclosed, so there are sure to be a handful of surprises in store.

Though there has not been any direct mention of familiar characters, fans have speculated at the return of the iconic Boba Fett. This bounty hunting legend most notably appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi but seemed to have died in a sarlacc pit on Tatooine while confronting Luke Skywalker and the rest of the original gang. However, in the (no longer canon) Dark Empire comic book series, it was revealed that Fett survived his encounter with the sarlacc pit, leaving many hoping for him to return to Star Wars film and television one day.

Some fans have argued that Disney has a habit of shoehorning familiar characters in just for the sake of catering to nostalgia, so let’s hope Emperor Palpatine doesn’t suddenly become Baby Yoda’s father in The Mandalorian season 2.

Disney has also been hard at work planning the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, with rumors pointing toward the appearance of a young Luke Skywalker recently heating up.
