British games retailer hired a new chief executive.
The GAME Group, the largest retailer of video games in Europe, declared Lisa Morgan, the previous Deputy CEO, as the corporations new Chief Executive Officer. Morgan, who joined the company in 1997, will be replacing Martin Long, a 13 year veteran of the company that expanded into eight countries and added over 800 stores to the retail chain. The new Deputy position will be filled by finance director David Thomas. Both Morgan and Thomas will take their roles on October 31st while allowing Long to remain in the company until January 2007 to support the new executives.
GAME Group Chairman Peter Lewis stated that, “Given the group’s current strong trading position and excellent future prospects, the board and Martin have agreed that now is the right time to make a change,” and, “The board is confident that a combination of Lisa’s retail experience, aligned with David Thomas’ city and financial background, will ensure that GAME is well placed to deliver on its UK and international growth plans.”
