Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster Is Getting Dante as Paid DLC

Despite some early fear from fans, Dante from the Devil May Cry series will indeed appear in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. Via Gematsu, Atlus confirmed the news on its website today, revealing that Capcom’s action protagonist will be joining through the Maniax Pack DLC on Oct. 29 — the game’s launch date in Japan — for 980 yen (approximately $9). Dante was first included in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax in Japan back in 2004, the version that then came West, which is why many fans were disappointed at his absence in the HD remaster’s reveal trailer last month.

Those that do not own the DLC will instead see Devil Summoner’s Raidou Kuzunoha — who joined in a separate, 2008 Shin Megami Tensei III re-release — fill Dante’s role. Those that own the DLC will have the option to choose between the two.

The Maniax Pack has essentially been confirmed for a Western release as well via Twitter meme from Atlus. Specifically, Atlus’s partnership with Capcom to bring Dante into the Shin Megami Tensei universe spawned the infamous “featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series” logo meme.

Atlus’ latest release launches in Japan on Oct. 29 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, with a worldwide release coming in spring 2021.
