Xbox Series X Showcase for First-Party Games Reportedly to Come Week of July 20

Microsoft had previously stated it would hold another Xbox 20/20 showcase in July to display its coming first-party games, and a report from Video Games Chronicle indicates that event will occur during the week of July 20, tentatively targeting July 23. VGC says that Microsoft’s July event will focus on first-party titles coming to Xbox Series X, but some third-party titles will be featured as well.

So far, the only game that is confirmed to be shown at the event isĀ Halo Infinite. 343 Industries also posted a teaser last week hinting at the return of the Banished.

There have been several rumors about new first-party titles that Xbox Game Studios is working on. By far the most prevalent ones are for Perfect Dark and Fable. The Initiative, led by Darrell Gallagher, is rumored to be working on a Perfect Dark game, while the Forza Horizon developer Playground Games is allegedly working on Fable.

Other than those, there hasn’t been much else revealed or reported. Ninja Theory revealed Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II at the Game Awards 2019 back in December, so it will likely make an appearance again during the July event.

Microsoft’s last showcase was held in May, as part of its Xbox 20/20 roadmap, which promised monthly digital events on Xbox Series X updates. However, June came and went without such a showcase. Fans are hungry for the next showcase, particularly after Microsoft acknowledged that it “set some wrong expectations” with its “gameplay” reveal during the May Xbox event. If even half of the rumors for the July event pan out, fans will likely be placated.
