Vanilla Ice Dislikes Rap Song for New TMNT Movie

Vanilla Ice isn’t feeling the new ninja rap for Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

While Megan Fox is busy telling fans to “f*c k off” over her role as April O’Neil in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, Vanilla Ice is expressing his own disappointment with the rap song that accompanies the debut of the movie.

“Shell Shocked” is a new song by Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and Ty Dolla $ign. The song features clever rhymes such as cheddar with Shredder, and clips from the movie of the newly-rendered Michael Bay turtles. Vanilla Ice, who is responsible for his own ninja rap back in 1991 for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, told GQ Magazine he wasn’t much of a fan of the new song.

“With respect to all of the artists, the song doesn’t really do it for me. It feels a little artificial-what I mean by that is that it sounds like a bunch of executives in the corporate world put it together. It really does not fit the theme of the Ninja Turtles legend. I think you have to understand, and be a true Ninja, to possess the Magic to really pull off the secret sound.”

That said, TMNT fans will also remember that before Vanilla Sky made “Go Ninja Go!,” Partners in Kryme made “Turtle Power,” which begs the question which song truly is closer to the “theme of the Ninja Turtles legend.”
