Demonschool Is a Persona-Like Tactical RPG Launching in 2023

Developer Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games have revealed Demonschool, a tactical RPG coming to PC, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S in 2023. The reveal trailer shown during today’s PC Gaming Showcase put the game’s streamlined tactics gameplay on display, revealing gameplay that is inspired by things like Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Italian horror cinema. As punchy as the gameplay looks, it’s nowhere near as eye-catching as Demonschool’s art and visuals, which blend 2D sprites with 3D environments to create colorful classrooms and unsettling undead creatures.

Each playable student has their own abilities to use in your battle strategy, with offensive types like Destin and Faye working best with support characters like Namako and Knute. Players run the students’ class schedule, choosing everything from what they study to the friends they make during extracurriculars. Each student will need to come together if they want to uncover a conspiracy that involves the Yakuza, possessed students, and an army of demons.

Demonschool aims to take the tactical RPG sub-genre to new realms thanks to its emphasis on speedy mechanics and the ability to rewind certain decisions. For more on Demonschool, you can read the short story synopsis below:

For freshman Faye, the last living heir to a long-forgotten family of demon hunters, school is nothing like it looks on the brochures. While her peers get to flirt through Freud and dabble in Dante, Faye and her new band of misfit friends get shunted toward supernatural investigations. A woman who lost her face? A summoning ritual in the cemetery? Mailer Daemons!? The underworld inches ever closer to the world of humanity… college is hell!

Stay tuned for more information on Demonschool as we wait for updates from Necrosoft and Ysbryd.
