European Game Auditing Firm Comes to North America

British game royalty auditor plans expansion into North America.

Video game royalty auditing firm Media Forensics declared plans to expand their services into North America. Based out of London, Media Forensics manages the royalty payments for multiple small European game developers who license or distribute their products to larger publishers. Since being founded in 2002, the company has built a client list of many popular and established studios, such as Bethesda (Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion) and Criterion Games (Burnout). Services provided for its customers include royalty invoicing, cash collection and contract assessment for licensing and publishing deals.

Tim Christian, co-founder of Media Forensics, explained the company’s direction: “Having clearly demonstrated that our services are of great financial benefit to our European clients, we are ready to extend our reach to North America. As the games industry continues to mature it will adopt the audit practices commonly used in other areas of the entertainment sector. For example, it is common in the movie and television segments for ‘talent’ – musicians, actors and authors – to engage auditors to perform annual audits of royalties as a matter of course … media Forensics is ready to fulfill these needs for video game developers and publishers in North America as well as Europe.”
