Gears of War Sells 2 Million

Microsoft has announced that after the first six weeks of worldwide availability, Gears of War has sold two million copies.

“We’ve always held high hopes for Gears of War, but we never expected such an overwhelmingly positive response from critics and gamers all over the world,” said Michael Capps, president, Epic Games. “I can’t describe how stoked our team is right now. Our fans can absolutely count on Epic to keep delivering new gameplay through Xbox Live.”

Michael Capps also indicated at the Spike Video Game Awards that some of the planned Gears of War downloadable content will be free. “We started long before the game ever came out, we started on the next stuff. We always take care of our customers, we always give them stuff for free and we’re going to keep doing that forever.”

In other interviews, Epic has been very careful not to say everything will be free. No release dates or specific plans for new content have been revealed.
