Harmonix Discusses Guitar Hero and new Franchise

Guitar Hero developers discuss leaving the series and working on a new franchise.

Only days after Neversoft began soliciting for Guitar Hero developers on the company’s website, series creator Harmonix talked with Gamasutra about their moving on to new franchises.

Harmonix producer Daniel Sussman confirmed they “are not developing Guitar Hero 3. We are instead working on a different music game project, one that is a bigger and more ambitious endeavor than we felt we could pursue within the bounds of the Guitar Hero franchise.” This will be Harmonix’s first new intellectual property launched under the envelope of parent company MTV, who bought the studio last year.
