US Dark Souls II PS3 Beta Delayed

Namco Bandai apologized to American gamers via Twitter after unforeseen issues delayed a planned PS3 beta for Dark Souls II.

Namco Bandai had to issue an apology via Twitter yesterday following unexpected issues that disrupted the start of an anticipated US PS3 beta for Dark Souls II. The invite-only beta was supposed to begin on October 27th, but unexpected problems apparently left players unable to access the beta. With no solution in sight, the publisher opted to push the beta’s start back to a later date.

“We thoroughly apologize for all of the confusion and issues,” Tweeted Namco Bandai. “We will be rescheduling the Network Test for another date.” The company was also quick to assure worried gamers that their spot in the beta would be reserved. “Everyone who was in this test will be allowed in for the next Dark Souls II PS3 Network Test. Your spot is secure.” As of right now there has been no explanation for what caused the problems. That being said, Namco Bandai announced that it will have more information “early this week” as to when the beta would be rescheduled to.

While solving these sorts of problems are actually kind of the reason that beta tests exist, it nonetheless has to be disappointing for fans expecting to play the game early to find themselves waiting again. That being the case, much of what we’ve seen of Dark Souls II thus far at least suggests that the game will be worth waiting for. In the mean time, I personally still need to finish the first Dark Souls. If anyone has any tips on killing that big green moth monster, I’d be much obliged.
