A Few Ways You Can Fail in Alien: Isolation

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

SEGA shows us some of the horrific ways you’re likely to fail and die in Alien: Isolation.

Alien: Isolation is taking a different approach than other Alien games we’ve recently played. The game focuses primarily on the Xenomorph, and your goal is to avoid it as much as possible. Anything you do can set it upon you, and SEGA is making sure to showcase all the different ways you can fail.

The “How Will You Survive?” series, which has six videos so far, details the interesting ways the Xenomorph can track you down, and how simple yet scary walking down an empty hallway can be. In the latest video, “Nowhere is Safe,” Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda is in an adjacent room observing the alien through a glass pane. As the alien walks away, Amanda is likely taking a sigh of relief, but then sees the alien walk near a door that automatically opens. The Xenomorph catches her within its sights.

It was nice while it lasted, Amanda.

Other entries in the series show how shooting might not be the best tactic, nor is trying to distract the enemy. Vents are also not your friend. The short trailers definitely demonstrate how important it is in the game to be astute and aware of your surroundings.

Alien: Isolation is set to release on October 7th.
