A Running List of Movies and Shows That Are Delayed or Affected by Coronavirus

The coronavirus has brought the film industry (and society in general) to a screeching halt. Nearly nothing is opening in the next two months and multiple movies don’t even have new opening dates yet. The delays affect every type of film, from blockbusters to independents, and with most of the major U.S. theater chains closing down, there’s really no reason for any movie to release theatrically. It’s not just movie releases, either. Film production is halting across the globe as countries begin outlawing large gatherings of people and studios fear for the safety of their crews and actors.

It’s a lot to keep track of, and more and more films keep getting delayed and pushed back. In light of this, we’re going to start continuously updating this page with information on delayed films and film production. Below you will find information on films that have been delayed, what their new release date might be, or whether they’re getting digital distribution instead. Films are listed in alphabetical order, and we will keep the list updated as more occur. This list is not exhaustive but highlights the larger movies and TV shows be affected.

Of note is that Universal Pictures has announced that it will be releasing all its films on digital rental platforms on the date they were supposed to hit theaters for now, beginning with Trolls World Tour. No other studio has followed suit yet, but that means, depending on how long theaters stay closed and Universal holds this stance, that Candyman and Minions: The Rise of Gru could see digital-only releases.
