Activision has neither shaken nor stirred the gaming scene with a James Bond game since it acquired a license last year to produce games based on the series, but that is soon to change, the company head said.
Company head Bobby Kottick recently said Activision will resurrect the franchise.
“We have our best development studios working on the product; we have a second team working on another Bond product, and we’re putting great resources against it,” Kottick said. “Bond is one of the great videogame franchises of all time and that really was a result of GoldenEye,” he continued, alluding to the Nintendo 64 classic.
Along the same lines, he also leveled criticism at competitor Electronic Arts for its own previous Bond offerings, which included largely forgettable titles including Nightfire, Rogue Agent and From Russia With Love. “It suffered a lot because it wasn’t a focal point of Electronic Arts’ efforts over the past five years, and they have such a broad portfolio of franchises that this one didn’t get the attention it deserved,” Kottick said.
