All Points Bulletin Trailer: Now With Gameplay

We’ve seen All Points Bulletin‘s ridiculous character creator, and we’ve seen a trailer made from entirely in-game footage, but now we get a first look at the actual gameplay of Realtime Worlds’ cops-and-robbers MMOG.

The more I see about APB, the more I look forward to it. It’s an open world crime game in the vein of Grand Theft Auto, developed by the team behind the original Crackdown, and with absolutely absurd amounts of character customization (as Susan Arendt writes about here.) The character creator is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while, with the developers taking great pains to ensure that no matter how much you mess with the sliders, the result will always be recognizably human.

It might look cool, but how does the gameplay shape up? If this trailer is any indication, it’s looking pretty cool. Yes, essentially it’s Grand Theft Auto in MMOG form, with guns, cars, and real-time combat that seems more twitch-based than stats-based. Rather than buffing your stats to get lethal critical hits on your opponent, why not just run them over with a truck?

Of course, as with any MMOG, it looks like there’s a /dance command. It goes without saying that /dance is the best part of any MMO, so it’s nice to see that Realtime Worlds is keeping with the program.

APB is scheduled to hit Q1 of next year, along with everything else.
