Hayao Miyazaki’s films evoke a certain magic. They use their otherworldly qualities to transport viewers to lands that blend elements of Japanese landscape and structures with European, crafting wholly unique settings. Artist Bill Murdon has taken inspiration from some of Miyazaki’s most famous works and also done some blending, adding elements of Japanese woodblock artist Kawase Hasui into a series of beautiful prints.

Murdon’s prints depict scenes from six Miyazaki movies including Kiki’s Delivery Service, The Castle of Cagliostro, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, andPorco Rosso. These prints manage to elegantly evoke the overall theme of each film while ensuring that the beauty of both Hasui and Miyazaki’s work is fully represented. You won’t see your favorite characters front and center, but you will see them incorporated seamlessly into the beautiful, large-scale landscapes of their own worlds.

Take a look at the images below and let us know which is your favorite. Although I’d love to see a Ponyo print, I’ve definitely got my eye on Kiki’s Delivery Service.

You can pre-order individual prints (or the entire set if you can’t decide between awesome and incredible) at Mudron’s website.
