Black Ops: Annihilation Hits Xbox 360 Later This Month

Annihilation, the third content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops, comes to the Xbox 360 later this month.

The new Black Ops map pack is only a couple of weeks away – can you guess what’s inside? If you said four maps and some zombies, you’re right! Okay, so there’s not really much to see here, but this is what we’re paid to do so let’s get on with it. Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation will include four “exciting and unique multiplayer” maps called “Hangar 18,” “Drive-In,” “Silo” and “Hazard.” But wait! There’s more!

“Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, ‘Shangri-La,’ an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters,” said Mark Lamia, the big cheese at Black Ops studio Treyarch. What this all-new experience will bring to the party is a closely guarded secret at this point but you can bet that the legions of the undead will, somehow, be involved.

Also a “secret,” sort of, is pricing, but since the previous two map packs, First Strike and Escalation, sell for around $15 each, I think it’s a safe bet that Annihilation will clock in somewhere around that mark too. And if you think that 15 bucks for four multiplayer maps and some zombies is a tad ridiculous, consider this: Activision said that Call of Duty: Black Ops has already generated the highest-selling add-on content in Xbox Live history. So the next time you find yourself wondering why, that’s why.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation comes out on June 28 for the Xbox 360. PC and PlayStation 3 versions will follow at some point in the future.
