Blizzard Team Shooter Overwatch Releasing May 24

Open Beta announced for all platforms.

Blizzard has announced a launch date for first-person shooter Overwatch, which will be available May 24 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The developer will also be holding an open beta period May 5-9, offering the full range of playable characters and maps in the launch release on all three platforms.

Customers who pre-order the game by April 29 will get to play the beta with a friend two days earlier than the common rabble.

Announced at BlizzCon in 2014, Overwatch will offer squad-based combat for 12 players, with 21 playable characters and three gameplay modes. The game is available in three editions, a standard version priced at $39.99, an “Origins Edition” featuring five additional character skins and add-on content for other Blizzard titles (including Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Diablo III), and a “Collector’s Edition” containing all of the above, an art book, a soundtrack and a 12″ statue of the character Soldier: 76.
