The Wargamer is reporting that Activision will be releasing a demo for its upcoming military shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare later this week.

According to the report, the demo will require a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or Athlon 64 2800+ processor, 512 megabytes of RAM, and a GeForce 6600 or Radeon 9800 Pro videocard; for best performance, Activision is recommending at least a 2.4 GHz dual-core CPU, 1 GB of RAM for Windows XP or 2 GB for Windows Vista, and an Nvidia GeForce 7800 or ATI Radeon X1800 video card.

The latest chapter in the long-running series, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the first Call of Duty game not set during World War II, and also the first to receive an M (Mature) rating from the ESRB. The game is set for release on November 5 in North America, and November 9 in Europe. More details, including a list of download sites when the demo is released, are available at the official Call of Duty website.
