Child’s Play, the world’s largest videogame community charity, has launched its fifth annual holiday charity drive.

Originally conceived as a fundraiser for the Seattle Children’s Hospital, Child’s Play has grown to cover 25 U.S. states and five countries, with new partner hospitals joining the program every month. Donors can choose to give items including toys for toddlers, music CDs, videogames, consoles and accessories, from a “wish list” for each individual hospital generated by Child’s Play in conjunction with Amazon.com.

“For the first ten months of the year, our community makes, plays and breathes games,” said Child Play’s Kristin Lindsay. “Our holiday drive is not only an opportunity to share that joy with those that need it, but it’s also a great way to show the strength of our culture.”

Child’s Play is currently seeking corporation donations for Children’s Hospitals giveaways as well as items for auction at the annual Child’s Play Fundraiser Dinner Auction, which will take place this year on December 11 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. The 2006 Dinner Auction raised over $200,000 for the charity.

Founded in 2003 by Gabe and Tycho of Penny Arcade fame, Child’s Play has since raised over $2 million in games, toys and cash for more than 45 hospitals around the world. Individuals or corporations wishing to donate to the Child’s Play charity, or hospitals who would like more information about joining the program, should contact Kristin Lindsay at [email protected] or call (206) 274-0024.
