Chris Seavor’s studio Gory Detail is looking into Nintendo’s new console , but not for Conker.
Of all of the games released on the Nintendo 64, few had as much personality as Conker’s Bad Fur Day. It was one of the most entertainingly irreverent games ever made; filled to brim with enough sex, violence, and bathroom humor to leave a urinal blushing. Sadly, potty humor failed to translate into sales and the game performed poorly. Despite that setback, it’s since built a following of dedicated fans over the years that are still pining for a new game today.
While a new game still looks less than likely, Conker creator Christopher Seavor has revealed that his studio, Gory Detail, may be working on a new game for the Wii U in the future. “Wii U devkits ain’t cheap and it’s lookin likely [Gory Detail] is gonna need 3 at some point this year,” said Seavor in a Tweet. Seavor was quick to affirm, however, that the new game would be unrelated to Conker. “Forget Conker 2,” said Seavor, responding to fans on Twitter. “Time for some new stuff!”
This will likely disappoint fans hoping for a sequel, especially considering Seavor’s past statements expressing interest in continuing the Conker series. That said, the Conker-verse has long been out of Seavor’s hands, and with IP-holder Microsoft showing little in it interest since the original’s 2005 remake, Conker: Live & Reloaded, it’s hard to blame the man for moving on to greener pastures.
As for Gory Detail’s new project, Seavor has been fairly mum, indicating that it’s still in early stages. That being the case, he may have let a few small bits slip while communicating with fans. “It’s the sad tale of a lonely, abandoned, rusty old doggie,” Seavor told one follower, describing the new project. If this is true we could be looking at a game fairly different from the expletive-laden action of Conker. Then again, Conker’s Bad Fur Day was originally envisioned as a family friendly adventure, so you never know.
