Dreamhaven Publishing Company & Two New Game Studios Established by Former Blizzard CEO

Blizzard Entertainment co-founder and former CEO Mike Morhaime has banded together with a group of industry veterans to create video game publishing company Dreamhaven, and it already has two new studios, Moonshot Games and Secret Door. The new company’s existence was revealed alongside a blog post today, announcing that the publisher will “create and publish original games for players around the world” from its home location in Irvine, California.

Moonshot is headed up by three other former Blizzard leads: Jason Chayes, Dustin Browder, and Ben Thompson. The trio is not alone, as they work alongside “a team of seasoned developers who’ve collectively worked on some of gaming’s most popular franchises.” Chayes provided his own statement:

Dreamhaven has assembled some amazing people, folks who truly share our values, and we’re really excited to begin this next adventure together. Though it’s very early days, when we think about Moonshot, we imagine a studio that celebrates curiosity and courage. We aspire to be bold in our approach, and we think the best way to do that is to create a culture centered around trust. That’s at the heart of how we’d like to work together and also how we’d like to connect with players once we’re a bit further down the road.

Meanwhile, Secret Door is led by Chris Sigaty, Alan Dabiri, and Eric Dodds, three other Blizzard veterans. Just as with Moonshot, Secret Door features “a team of highly talented developers with extensive industry experience.” Sigaty stated, “At Secret Door, we are passionate about bringing players together in positive ways while building a sustainable home for creators. Dreamhaven is providing everything we need to head into uncharted territory.”

Other than promising to create vibrant games that take chances, Morhaime and Dreamhaven have yet to announce any specific plans, so stay tuned for updates on what’s to come. Until then, be sure to check out the company’s newly established website.
