Fez Gets One Final Patch

Fez

Despite being released all the way back in 2013, Fez has gotten one final, sudden, patch.

Remember quirky indie platformer Fez? Despite being released all the way back in 2013, it recently got a swanky collector’s edition, and now, it has receive a rather substantial “final” update. The patch fixes up a number of key issues that improve performance, improves controller mapping, graphics issues for both low and high-end PCs, and even added in a “speedrun mode.”

“Since I shipped Fez 1.11 I had little intention of making additional fixes or features to the game because I simply don’t have the time with a kid and a fulltime job… and working on Fez is getting old after 9 years. So I did want to address problems that people have with the game, but I don’t want to do it for the rest of my life. I had spent enough time away from the game that I was somewhat enthusiastic about coming back to it, especially if it’s at my pace, and that it’s my last time doing so,” wrote Renaud Bedard, the game’s sole programmer.

You can check out the full patch notes right here.

For those of you hoping that this increase Fez activity may lead to a sequel, i’ll have to remind you that creator Phil Fish had a bit of a breakdown back in 2013, in which he cancelled development of Fez 2. Sorry about that.
