Gamecock Media Group has announced details of the 2008 Expo for Interactive Entertainment, Independent and Original, set to take place this year in the great state of Texas.
The show is slated for March 6, 2008, at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q in Austin, Texas, and will feature “a full line-up of artist-driven games, along with music, mayhem and good ol’ fashioned Texas hospitality.” Developers including Wideload, Red Fly Studio, Spark Unlimited, Replay Studios, Firefly Studio and Timegate Studios will be present at the event, with more to be announced in the coming weeks. The all-day event is taking place in conjunction with the South by Southwest Interactive Festival, which runs from March 7 to March 11.
A concert will take place following the all-day event, which Gamecock hopes will feature bands that include members of the gaming press. Dual-class game journalists-musicians are invited to contact [email protected] to inquire about bookings.
“While we have enjoyed providing an entertaining respite for the industry during the painful California-based trade shows of years past, it has always been our dream to show people how we really do it down in Texas,” said Gamecock Grand Champeen Mike Wilson. “We want this E.I.E.I.O. to be part videogame expo, part backyard carnival, part indie revival. And, as E.I.E.I.O leads right into SXSW – the annual mecca for independent artists from all walks of life – we are heading up the charge to get the best and most original games here.”
