The internet-based gaming service, GameTap, is expanding its base to include Macintosh users.
Starting this summer, those with Intel processor-based Macs will have access to 500 of GameTap’s videogame titles.
The move has been made possible by TransGaming, which has developed a proprietary engine that “acts as an interpreter between the game’s original code and the Intel Mac, imparting a great user experience on the Mac,” according to a company press release.
GameTap titles include arcade classics and older PC hits like Sonic the Hedgehog and Tomb Raider.
“The availability of GameTap for the Mac represents an amazing inflection point for Mac gamers,” offered Vikas Gupta, CEO of TransGaming.
“GameTap is a great boon to the gaming world and it’s wonderful that GameTap is making their content available to the thriving Mac community.”
